Which building department handles my address?
Unincorporated Sarasota County. Sarasota County Planning and Development Services has permit centers in Sarasota (1001 Sarasota Center Blvd.) and Venice (4000 S. Tamiami Trail).
Unincorporated Manatee County. Manatee County Development Services is at 9000 Town Center Parkway in Lakewood Ranch, with applications through its Online Services Portal.
Cities and towns. Sarasota, Venice, North Port, Bradenton, Palmetto, Longboat Key, Anna Maria and Holmes Beach handle permits inside their own limits.
County lines. Lakewood Ranch and Longboat Key cross the Sarasota-Manatee line, and Englewood crosses into Charlotte County, so check which county your parcel is in.
